With so many different types of waxes, you might be wondering what candle wax is the best and why we use a soy-based blend for our candles. While we use a proprietary soy wax blend, there are many other options including beeswax, paraffin wax, coconut wax, and more. Our unique blend is Kosher, soy wax based.
AN OVERVIEW OF THESE TWO TYPE OF CANDLE WAXES
Soy Wax: Soy wax is a plant-based, sustainable and renewable source. This type of wax has a lower melting point compared to others, which results in longer lasting candles. Because soy wax is composed of natural materials, it is also known to produce a cleaner burn. This means less soot is produced compared to many other waxes.
Paraffin Wax: Paraffin wax is known to carry fragrance more intensely compared to some other waxes. This type of wax helps candles to have a stronger scent throw. Paraffin wax is the most commonly used wax for candle making.
WHY WE USE A SOY-BASED BLEND
When our owners, Melissa and Chris, first started hand pouring candles for Sweet Water Decor back in 2017, they knew they wanted to use high-quality, locally grown wax that was gluten, lead, phthalate, and cruelty-free. To this day, all of our candles still meet this criteria, and have a plethora of other benefits!
Our candle team hand pours all of our candles in our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania warehouse! Our made in the USA candles are composed of US grown soy wax, and are vegan, non-GMO, and Kosher as well.
Our soy wax blend has an optimal scent throw and finishes with a clean, smooth wax finish, unlike other soy candles. The low melting point of soy wax gives our candles a longer lifespan with a burn time of 40+ hours.
